John Jackson is a solicitor with over 20 years of experience defending clients in the most complex and high-value criminal and regulatory matters heard in the Crown Court, with a particular specialism in Very High Cost Cases (VHCC).

Profile

John acts as the Contractual VHCC Supervisor for the firm's Legal Aid Agency contract, taking overall responsibility for case strategy, compliance and the supervision of a multi-skilled team of lawyers across every stage of a VHCC matter. His caseload has included lead conduct of a £28m VHCC fraud concerning VAT reclaim and CIS payment fraud in the construction industry, and complex Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 proceedings, including R v Patel & Ali, a £380m POCA case arising from a £150m VAT fraud and £230m counterfeit goods conspiracy, ultimately settled at £95m and now proceeding to the Court of Appeal on a novel point of law concerning realisable assets.

John has also led the defence in R v Vojtech Dano, a multi-billion pound Class A drugs importation conspiracy involving over 50 defendants, and has extensive experience managing multi-million-page disclosure exercises, instructing Leading and Junior Counsel, and advising on “Encro” phone admissibility challenges. He was also part of the defence team in the high-profile R v Lucy Letby case.

Clients value John's forensic, thorough approach and his ability to lead teams through the most demanding cases with clarity and confidence.
