FAMILY LAW
Divorce and legal separation
It is an unfortunate fact of life that not all marriages are successful. When a relationship breaks down one or both parties may seek to dissolve the marriage or to obtain a formal decree of judicial separation. At Ennon and Co we recognise that this is an extraordinarily difficult and emotional time when you need clear advice and support to help find the best solution for your problems. We can also advise on the law relating to unmarried couples, their children and assets.
Children
If there are children affected by the break-up under the age of 18 the family court must be satisfied that proper arrangements are being made for their future welfare. If you are concerned about the amount of contact you enjoy, or who should look after your children on a day to day basis, we can help to deal with this in a non-confrontational manner.
Financial provisions
A fair division of joint assets, including pensions and the family home, is an inevitable part of a marriage breakdown. In the majority of cases this is achieved by negotiation between solicitors and agreement between the parties. Here at Ennon and Co we encourage negotiation and agreement rather than conflict in the application of the principles that apply to the division of assets and future financial provision for the family.
Protection and Domestic Violence
We can also advise you on family protection, domestic violence, injunctions, wardship, adoption and child care proceedings.
Civil Partnership
If you wish to have advice about the legal consequences of entering into such a partnership, or indeed what may happen if the relationship subsequently broke down, we will be glad to advise.
